Biography

As senior lecturer in hydrology and associate professor in biogeochemistry, Roger Herbert’s time is divided between research, teaching, and an assignment as Director of the Civil engineering program in environmental and water engineering. His research addresses biogeochemical processes under water-saturated conditions, with specific focus on denitrification in bioreactors, transport in double porosity systems, and groundwater remediation. Arsenic uptake in plants and silica nanoparticle interactions in the soil-plant-water system are also a research interest. He is currently the project coordinator for the EIT RawMaterials project NITREM, which focuses on the upscaling of bioreactor technology for the mining and quarrying industry.
