Biography

Research Interests

My research has primarily focused on business history. Business history has been an approach in industrial history. To me it is obvious that one might deepen one’s understanding of growth and stagnation on the macro-level if one - in a relevant context - analyses the workings of enterprises. Theoretical inspiration has been derived from Joseph A. Schumpeter and, later on, from Douglass C. North. Amongst others who have given inspiration are Alfred D. Chandler and scholars working with the history of mentalities. Along the same line of thinking, I have accepted the view that biographies might mirror aspects of their times.

At this time (January 2011) I am working with biographical studies of Theodor Adelswärd (1860-1929), holder of an entailed estate, entrepreneur and politician.
