What do you need to know about information making to understand if it's credible?

Isto's paper that looks into what we need to know about information making to assess its credibility has been published in Information Research.

The study that was conducted with archaeological heritage administrators shows that people use both information producers' reputation and non-reputational cues to assess the credibility of information making. A significant factor that influenced the strategies of assessing information appeared to be how far in epistemic terms (i.e. epistemic distance) the information users were from the community where the information belonged.

The paper was presented in September at the ISIC conference and is openly available at the Information Research website.
