Former PhD Student Wins Prestigious Börje Langefors Award
We are proud to announce that our former PhD student, Shweta Premanandan, has been awarded the 2025 Börje Langefors Award for Best Swedish Dissertation in Information Systems. The award was presented on October 21st during the annual SISA conference in Karlstad.
The jury highlighted the dissertation’s strong societal relevance and originality. It addresses a timely and pressing challenge: supporting informal caregivers amid growing strain on formal care systems. By focusing on immigrant caregivers, the work highlights a group that is often underrepresented in IS research. The thesis explores how cultural differences influence system design, offering insights that extend beyond caregiving and emphasize the importance of culturally aware IS design in an interconnected world.
Congratulations, Shweta, on this outstanding achievement!
