Eligibility requirements

The courses given in English are on an advanced level.

In order to study these courses it is recommended that you have studied at least three years of law in your home country and you should also have a very good knowledge of English. If you have a very good knowledge of Swedish you are also welcome to apply for the advanced courses given in Swedish. See the course catalogue for detailed information on the courses offered.

In order to become an exchange student you need to be nominated by one of our partner universities and remain registered at your home university.

The Faculty of Law does not accept free movers, only students from partner universities.

Welcome letter

Once you officially have been nominated by your university, you will receive a welcome letter including information material and important forms that you need to fill in and send back to us, e.g. application form for admission to Uppsala, course application and housing application.

Application for courses

As an exchange student, you can enroll for all law courses given in English. All courses have a restricted entry and competition is usually keen. It is recommended that you make a second and third choice in your course application in case you are not admitted to your first or second option.

Please note that there is no “course shopping” at Uppsala University. You can only study courses you have been admitted to and you are only admitted to one course at a time. The deadline for application to the courses in English is 15 April and 15 October.
