Welcome to the Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Law in Uppsala is the oldest law department in Sweden and is situated in the center of Uppsala in a building that dates back to the 17th century.

The Law School in Uppsala has one of Scandinavia’s most popular education programmes. Our model of teaching gives advantageous outcomes for the students. It is based on a foundation of high quality of research carried out at the Faculty and with extensive international cooperation.

There are about 2 500 undergraduate students and 50 postgraduate students at the Faculty. Every year about 100 of our students travel abroad to study at a foreign university and we receive about 130 foreign students.

About our courses in English

As an exchange student, you can enroll for all law courses given in English. The courses given in English are advanced courses and they are also available for the Swedish students studying at advanced level.

In order to study these advanced courses it is recommended that you have studied at least three years of law in your home country, and you should also have a very good knowledge of English. If you have a very good knowledge of Swedish you are also welcome to apply for the advanced courses given in Swedish.
