Abstract: The nonlinear Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert (LLG) equation plays an essential role when describing magnetic materials on a atomistic level. While this equation treats the magnetisation as a classical vector, the underlying degrees of freedom are quantum spins (described by operators and tensor products), which justifies the search for a quantum-mechanical description of magnetisation dynamics. I discuss our recently proposed [PRL 133, 266704 (2024)] quantum analog of the LLG equation that mimics the expected dynamics of a single classical spin for a certain class of states, but may differ significantly in the multi-spin case.
