Maths is a language that is international, precise, concise and powerful. It is the key to exploring and understanding the secrets of nature and the universe, from the smallest particle to black holes. It gives us the tools to decode patterns, relationships and to express laws of nature and other truths. Maths helps us understand the world - and we use the world to understand mathematics.
Master's programme in mathematics
Pursue your passion for maths through our Master's Programme. You study in an international environment where between half to one third of the students on the programme come from abroad. Uppsala University is known for its strong research environment in mathematics and ranks as a whole in the top 100 universities in the world in several rankings.
The Master’s Programme in Mathematics at Uppsala University offers three study tracks: Theoretical Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Statistics, and Financial Mathematics. You will develop highly sought-after mathematical skills and be well prepared for doctoral studies or analytically demanding roles in Sweden and internationally.
Exchange Studies
We accept students from the University's and the Department's own exchange agreements and can usually also offer courses to students from the University's other departmental agreements.

PhD Studies
We invite students with a passion for research to join us and study for a PhD. It will be a journey that push you to reach your potential.
The doctoral programme is both a training programme and a five-year paid position comprising research and doctoral courses at 80% and departmental duties (mainly teaching) at 20%. After graduating you will be well prepared and qualified for a position at the best universities, nationally and internationally, in industry, public agencies, and society in general.
