Outreach

For the past three years, all members of our programme have taken part in SciFest at Fyrishov in Uppsala—an annual science festival attracting around 8,000 visitors over three days. Our interactive activity, Poison Hunt: Discover Which Environmental Pollutants Threaten Wildlife, invites children and adults to become environmental toxicologists. By examining microscopic life, testing water samples for estrogen-like activity and exploring how pollutants interact with hormone receptors, participants investigate links between human activities, water quality and wildlife health. Through hands-on experiments and workshops, we aim to make environmental toxicology accessible and engaging while raising awareness of the need to understand and prevent the harmful effects of environmental pollutants.
