PEPPER projects
Overview: Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) can disturb cellular and molecular processes in humans and animals though diverse mechanisms. The European Commission has highlighted the need for effective test methods to identify EDCs. However, the validation of these methods is still lacking, primarily due to the significant expenses involved and insufficient funding allocated for regulatory efforts. PEPPER (Platform for the Evaluation and Pre-validation of Endocrine-disrupting substances) intends to improve the management of endocrine disruptors while also safeguarding health and the environment. Its main aim is to facilitate the validation of EDC identification methods to meet EU and international standards. The EpiTox group is currently involved in the pre-validation of 3 PEPPER methods.
