Super-ADAM, located at the Institute Laue-Langevin (ILL), provides Swedish researchers access and support to advanced neutron scattering to study interfacial phenomena. This application focuses on the operation and development of the successful and highly competitive Super-ADAM neutron reflectometer. Access is granted after independent evaluation of applications, where 50% of the time is reserved for Swedish users and 50% is allocated through the ILL proposal system. The project is a joint effort of Uppsala University, Linköping University, Lund University, Chalmers and KTH, aiming to involve all Swedish researchers and industrial partners to benefit from neutron techniques.
Super-ADAM is an interdisciplinary project, supporting diverse science areas including healthcare, sustainability and quantum materials. To promote excellent science, it offers not only beamtime but also strong experimental support for neutron experiments, data evaluation and special support for new users. Furthermore, the project team provides expertise and assistance on the use of neutron scattering at other facilities and contributes to developments at the European Spallation Source (ESS).
As the only neutron infrastructure owned and operated by the Swedish research community, Super-ADAM is crucial for strengthening competence in neutron science, including method and instrument development. It plays a key role in preparing Sweden for ESS and is critical to future Swedish instrument projects.
