Prof. Tom R. Burns elected as a member of two academies
Professor emer. Tom R. Burns at the Department of Sociology was recently elected as a member of the International Academy for Systems and Cybernetic Sciences (IASCYS) and Strömstad Academy: Nordic Institute for Advanced Studies.
The aim of IASCYS is to create an international, multi-cultural, multi-linguistic, trans-disciplinary network, of educators, teachers, researchers and managers in systems science, systemics and cybernetics. The task of this experts network is to set up educational, broadcasting and research actions, at any level and for all people, to promote a scientific holistic approach, and particularly systems science, systemics and cybernetics; also to develop innovative research topics and promote the establishment of collaborative research networks in systemics and cybernetics; and to support young researchers in the field; promote international networks for under-graduate and post-graduate education on systemics and cybernetics. The Academy's main activities are organizing regular events and meetings, and publishing proceedings, books, online papers, presentations, and reports. Burns has also been elected ás a member of the Strömstad Academy: Nordic Institute for Advanced Studies. The aim of the academy is to engage in research, development, education, and informing the public. The academy organizes meetings and seminars, and publish newsletter, electronic report series as well as book series.The Academy is localized in Strömstad and has rooms in Strömstad’s Cityhall.
