Senior Lecturer in Statistics

The Department of Statistics are currently recruiting a Senior Lecturer in Statistics!

The position involves teaching, examination, research, and administrative duties, with teaching constituting a substantial part of the role. High standards are placed on pedagogical competence and the ability to adapt the level and content of teaching to different target groups. Teaching at the undergraduate level is largely conducted in Swedish, while teaching at the advanced level is conducted exclusively in English. Teaching responsibilities include course coordination and course administration. The applicant is also expected to initiate and participate in pedagogical development work and to take responsibility for institutional duties.

Initially, the department requires reinforcement at the undergraduate level. Teaching may include courses in basic statistics, but also, for example, econometrics, time series analysis, statistical learning, and multivariate methods. Teaching at the advanced level is also part of the duties. Supervision of thesis projects in statistics at both undergraduate and advanced levels is a necessary part of the teaching responsibilities.

The duties also include actively applying for external research funding and keeping abreast of developments within the applicant’s own subject area, as well as broader societal developments that are relevant to the role of a university teacher.

Statistical consulting may form a substantial part of the duties.

In summary, the applicant is expected to contribute to the department’s long-term development work in both research and teaching.
