Proposal for new vice-rector under preparation
The nominating committee of the Disciplinary Domain of Humanities and Social Sciences’ electoral assembly is currently working to identify candidates to succeed Tora Holmberg as the new vice-rector.
Current Vice-Rector Tora Holmberg has been proposed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Umeå University. The governing board of Umeå University is expected to decide at a meeting on 5 December to propose to the government the appointment of Tora Holmberg as the new Vice-Chancellor of Umeå University.
In line with this anticipated decision, the process to appoint a new vice-rector for the Disciplinary Domain of Humanities and Social Sciences has begun. The nominating committee of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences’ electoral assembly is therefore working on proposals for a new vice-rector.
Once the nominating committee has reached a consensus, the proposal will be presented to the electoral assembly. The proposal is usually also made public at the time of that presentation.
Normally, the electoral assembly calls the candidate for a hearing and then meets again to decide on a proposal for vice-rector to submit to the Vice-Chancellor for approval.
The plan is for the proposal for a new vice-rector to be sent to the Vice-Chancellor by late January 2025.
