The Mathematics Seminar

At the Mathematics Seminar organised by the Department of Mathematics, you have the opportunity to take part in ongoing research, popular science lectures and mathematics applications. All students interested in mathematics are welcome to participate. No pre-registration is needed.

Our research seminars

We have several different seminar series for different research areas where the speakers are either our own researchers, PhD students or invited speakers. They are open to all interested parties to attend. Many of the seminars are at a level that an interested master's student in the field can benefit from, while some may be a little too advanced. However, even in the more advanced seminars, it is usual for the introduction to be at a slightly lower level and if you say you are a student, it may be possible for the presenter to make adjustments in the moment.

We really welcome and encourage our students to participate! It is a great opportunity to have the chance to interact and engage with leading mathematicians. It can provide valuable insights, inspiration and networking opportunities for your academic and professional development. By attending these seminars, you can broaden your understanding and gain exposure to different subject areas. You can learn about new techniques, theories and applications that can greatly enhance your knowledge and skills.

Research seminars can be found in the departmental calendar. Some are published there at fairly short notice (sometimes less than a week) - so keep an eye out. In addition to research seminars, you can also find other events that the Department invites you to.
