Learning outcomes
After completion of the course the student should be able to have an understanding of
- key events in the evolution of Life and Earth during the Mesozoic
- basic geological and biological events during the Mesozoic
- main faunal changes and periods of mass extintions during the Mesozoic
Content
The course is an introduction to the Evolution of the Earth and Life, with special reference to the Age of Dinosaurs and covers the origin and evolution of dinosaurs and other vertebrates of the Mesozoic world, as well as the extinction of dinosaurs. The demonstrations are held in the Museum of Evolution, Norden's largest collection of dinosaurs and giant fossil reptiles.
Instruction
The evening course includes lectures and demonstrations of which 3 are obligatory. The distance course includes 3 obligatory weekends of lectures and demonstrations.
Assessment
Written examination (7.5 credits) at the end of the course. The distance course concludes with a written independent essay (7.5 credits).
