120 credits within the bachelor program in Mechanical Engineering.
Learning outcomes
After a successfully completed course the student should be able to:
- describe the most significant scientific research theories, as well as identify basic concepts, methods and models in the field,
- account for and apply a scientific approach, including problem formulation, method selection, data collection, data and performance analysis, as well as reference management,
- plan and carry out an independent investigation work for a given technological problem,
- verbally and in writing account for and discuss information, problems and solutions in dialogue and interaction with different groups,
- verbally and in writing describe and discuss information, problems and solutions in dialogue and interaction with different groups
- critically and independently review and oppose technical reports,
- independently make judgments taking into account relevant scientific and ethical approaches,
- identify the need for additional knowledge.
Content
Basic science theory and research ethics. Scientific writing. Formulation of problems, purposes and questions. Methodology and validity. Information search and literature studies. Data collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data. Reference Management. Review and opposition to scientific and technical reports. Oral and written presentation.
Instruction
Lectures, seminars and assignments.
Assessment
Active participation in seminars (1 credit), written assignments (4 credits).
