Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  • search, collect, evaluate and critically interpret relevant information in a problem,
  • critically discuss phenomena, issues and situations,
  • apply acquired knowledge,
  • independently identify, formulate and solve problems and carry out tasks within given time frames,
  • present and discuss information, problems and solutions orally and in writing in dialogue with different groups,
  • demonstrate a scientific and engineering approach.

Content

In the degree project, the student must apply knowledge acquired during his/her studies by independently processing and presenting a task within the planned time. The task must be chosen in such a way as to apply, broaden and deepen the knowledge acquired during previous studies.

The degree project is in the main field of technology. This means, among other things, that the work must be of technical relevance and must be able to be placed in a technical context. The task for the degree project must also fit with the bachelor programme in biomedical engineering's objectives and own guidelines for appropriate degree projects.

The course also includes reading of selected in-depth literature. The thesis must involve contacts in industry, research or hospitals.

Instruction

Independent research or development work, report writing, individual supervision and seminars.

Assessment

Oral and written presentation of the degree project (further information under Other Directives). Oral and written opposition on another degree project (normally within the same programme), or equivalent (defined by the course examiner).

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
