Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- provide an overview of current and expected future climate change;
- provide an overview of how scientists and politicians pay attention to global warming;
- discuss how different political actors relate to global warming as a problem and to different possible solutions;
- discuss how global warming affects people's understanding of and relation to places;
- demonstrate basic skill in collecting and analyzing information of relveance to the theme of the course;
- communicate collected and analyzed material in speech and writing.
Content
The course focuses on climate change and on how global warming has emerged as a political issue. Within this context, a central theme of the course is how new and already established political actors deal with climate change as a process and as a political challenge, on different geographical scales. In addition, the course focuses on how climate change affects people's attachment to specific places, and how this in turn impacts on their perceptions of global warming and their actions to mitigate the same.
Instruction
Teaching takes place exclusively online.
Assessment
Continuous assessment based on written assignments.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
