In Ocotber 2022 we had the privilige of welcoming Susana Borràs Pentinat, Associate Professor of International Public Law and International Relations in the Department of Public Law at the Rovira i Virgili University (Spain), as a visiting reserarcher at the Centre.
Susana Borràs Pentinat's current research is on gender climate migration and she holds a Marie Curie Horizon 2020 grant with the CLIMOVE project, “Gender climate migration: innovative European Union socio-legal avenues” (No 101031252). This research project addresses the challenging socio-legal avenues for the European Union (EU) to respond to the climate migration from a gender perspective.
The objectives of the project is to explore, recognise and understand the complex experience of migrant women in a context of climate change and of EU migration crisis. Female migration still often clashes with censorship, patriarchal laws or lack of diversity or equality in countries of origin and even destination. Using feminist methodology, the project aims to do a comprehensive, comparative analysis of the current migration policies and laws among EU countries in terms of gender and to what extent they have been built from a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary perspective.
Susana Borràs Pentinat is also part of a research group on Territory, Citizenship and Sustainability at the Centre for Environmental Law Studies (CEDAT). She the Jean Monet Chair on European Union Environmental Policy at the University of Barcelona and an expert researcher at the United Nations Platform "Harmony with Nature"; the South American Network for Environmental Migrations (RESAMA); the Migration Research Hub-IMISCOE and the Plataforma Migraciones Climáticas.
