SIHI Sweden is hosting our fourth conference November 9-10 in Uppsala, Sweden. The theme of the conference is Implementation of Social Innovations for Health - Theory, Design and Practice.
From Ideas to Action: Implementing Social Innovation in Health
Our health system is facing many complex challenges. An aging population, rising mental health issues, and changing demographic conditions require new ways of thinking and acting to ensure sustainable and equitable health for all. While social innovations in health continue to generate promising ideas and solutions, a major challenge remains: how do we successfully implement these innovations in real-world settings and create lasting change?
Through the SIHI Sweden conference we are bringing together researchers, practitioners, community leaders, policymakers and students from different sectors to share experiences and explore how implementation can be designed, evaluated, adapted, and scaled in different contexts. Our focus on implementation aims to inspire to move innovative ideas from theory to practice
Through keynote lectures, interactive workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, participants will engage with questions such as:
- How can social innovations be effectively implemented and sustained?
- What enables behavioural and systems change?
- How can communities and stakeholders be meaningfully involved in implementation processes?
- What methods and frameworks can support scaling and adaptation across contexts?
- How can implementation contribute to more equitable and sustainable health outcomes?
While strengthening networks and creating possibilities for collaboration and new partnerships , the conference works as a catalyst for new initiatives locally and globally.

SIHI Sweden is part of the global Social Innovation in Health Initiative (SIHI) network. The Swedish hub is hosted by the Centre for Health and Sustainability (CHS) at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health at Uppsala University.
Our mission is to advance interdisciplinary research and practice in social innovation for health by connecting researchers, students, entrepreneurs, policymakers, civil society organisations, and public and private sector actors. We advocate for the systems transformations needed to achieve health for all.
