The Hugo Valentin Lecture
Hugo Valentin (1888—1963) was a Swedish historian at Uppsala University, who wrote the standard work on the history of Jews in Sweden (Judarnas historia i Sverige) in 1924. An abridged form has been published in several editions, the most recent in 2013. Valentin also wrote early about the ongoing Holocaust when he in 1942 described a ’war of extermination against Jews’ in an article that was published and cited by several newspapers.
The Hugo Valentin Centre proudly carries Hugo Valentin's name, and we honour his memory by annually inviting a distinguished guest speaker who has made great contributions the fields of Holocaust and genocide studies.
