This seminar focuses on the use of image and text analysis, including AI techniques, to study a unique dataset of thousands of French family letters spanning the 19th and 20th centuries. The presentation will address the origins of the collection, the digitization and transcription processes, and the structure of the data. It will explore challenges in analyzing handwritten text and visual content, as well as methods for extracting semantic information. Early results will be shared, highlighting the potential of AI in historical research. The session will conclude with an open discussion to exchange ideas and gather audience perspectives on further exploration and analysis of this historical and familial dataset.
