This past summer, I had the opportunity to attend a five-day international summer school on Constraint Programming, held in Benin, Africa. The program brought together students and researchers from across the world to learn the basics of Constraint Programming and see how it can be applied to real-world problems. The school combined theoretical lectures with hands-on lab sessions. Topics included modeling techniques, constraint propagation, global constraints, and search strategies, as well as lectures on hybrid approaches and applications of CP for sustainable development. The sessions were led by experts in the field. In addition to the academic content, the school emphasized collaboration and exchange through social events and local cultural activities, including a guided tour of the city of Ouidah. In this presentation, I’ll share what I learnt from the program, highlight some example problems we worked on, and give some insights into the cultural experiences we had in Benin.
