The Hugo Valentin Lecture 2003: Professor Henry R. Huttenbach

This second Hugo Valentin Lecture was given by Professor Henry R. Huttenbach, City University of New York, City College. The lecture was titled The Universality of Genocide.

Professor Huttenbach was director of the Center for the Study of Ethnopolitics and Ethnonationalism at City University. He has founded and publishes the journals Genocide Forum and Journal of Genocide Research and is regularly engaged as a guest lecturer at universities in the USA and Europe. He has held visiting professorships in Japan and at Yale University. Among his books can be mentioned Soviet Nationality Policies (1994) and From Versailles to Dayton (2000). In spring of 2002, he gave a seminar series on genocide research at Uppsala University.

Professor Huttenbach was awarded an honorary doctorate at Uppsala University in January 2003 and this lecture in Hugo Valentin's memory was also his graduation lecture.
