15 years of collaboration in materials science
Ångström Materials Academy (ÅMA) was formed in 2007 as a way to promote collaboration between businesses and academic researchers at Uppsala University. The aim was to establish a platform for strategic collaboration related to materials science, an Area of Advance at the University.
For the University, ÅMA has provided a unique opportunity for collaboration with businesses in the materials field, which has in turn provided the conditions for improving quality and relevance in both materials research and education at the University.
For businesses, ÅMA has provided an opportunity to access the skills and activities at the University that can contribute to their own business development in the form of research and development projects, as well as skills development and recruitment of human resources.
ÅMA’s activities and organisation have varied since the platform was established in order to optimally meet the current needs of industry and academia.
Today, ÅMA is an open platform for collaboration that lays the foundation for needs-driven research in collaboration with external parties and gives rise to innovations through its cross-sectoral community within materials science in the Uppsala region.
