Biography

Daniel Nordholm is Associate Professor. His research interests, for instance, address principals' identity, autonomy, school governance and school improvement. Nordholm is also Head of the National School Leadership Training Programme. He is leading the research group Research on Educational Leadership (REL) together with Associate Professor Katina Thelin. He is also Associate Editor for the International Journal of Educational Management.

Nordholm is also a member of the steering committee for ROCIT, a research school funded by the Swedish Research Council that aims to explore and bridge scientific and practice-based knowledge linked to the teacher education. This research school is a joint effort among eight Swedish universities.

Ongoing research projects:

Project leader (2023-2026): "Comparing Leadership Autonomy in Swedish, Finnish and Icelandic Municipalities and Schools", funded by the Swedish Research Council. The project group also includes Maria Jarl, assistant professor at the University of Gothenburg, Wieland Wermke, professor at Stockholm University, and Gunnlaugur Magnusson, associate professor at Uppsala University.

Project partner (2021–2024): "Comparisons of Leadership Autonomy in School Districts and Schools (CLASS)", funded by the Norwegian Research Council. The project is led by Professor Tine Prøitz at the Department of Economics, History and Social Sciences, University of Southeast Norway.
