Short presentation
I am an Associate Professor in Pharmaceutics and my research integrates rational formulation design, biophysics, and molecular biology to understand how therapeutics and target systems interact. I am currently co-leading a work-package within GENEGUT, a Horizon Europe Framework Program consortium, to develop RNA therapy to treat ileal Crohn’s disease and I coordinate a projects on oral delivery of antibiotics funded by the Uppsala Antibiotic Center.

Research
I have a background in pharmacy and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Otago, New Zealand, with expertise in drug delivery and in vitro models for formulation testing. My research explores lipid-based nanoparticles for oral delivery of challenging therapeutics. I am particularly interested in studying the interactions of nanoparticle with target tissues using a combination of cell-based assays, biophysical approaches as well as advanced microscopy techniques. Additionally, I focus on developing more clinically relevant in vitro models based on human intestinal organoids as a powerful tool in drug development.
