Administrator of Biobank Sweden (VR-BIS), national infrastructure for biobanking where healthcare, academia, industry, and patient organisations collaborate to attain good healthcare and research.
A biobank is a collection of identifiable samples taken from humans, which are collected, stored and used in accordance with the legislation. Samples in biobanks are primarily stored for the patient’s own care, such as diagnosis and treatment but are also used for medical research and clinical trials.
