Description

Digitalization is transforming many businesses, including the building sector. The digital twin concept – a digital model of a building fed with real-time data – has received much attention lately. Despite this, its potential use in renovation of buildings has not been thoroughly studied.

This project aims to fill this gap by investigating how a digital twin and related digital solutions can contribute to more informed and user-adapted decisions on renovation measures for buildings. The project builds on an established collaboration between Uppsala University and Akademiska Hus in which a digital twin for campus buildings is developed.

The digital twin approach will be adapted and applied to three case study buildings in Uppsala, along with building 3D screening and deployment of sensors. The project will lead to suggestions for how to practically digitalize building renovation.
