This project examines the philosophical and political ideas shaping the worldview of contemporary technology elites and their growing influence on society. Inspired by Alex Karp’s The Technological Republic (2025), which urges Silicon Valley to prioritize national interests over consumer applications, the study situates leading tech figures within a broader intellectual current that combines technological power, capital, and philosophical conviction.
Individuals such as Peter Thiel, Marc Andreessen, Curtis Yarvin, and others draw selectively on traditions ranging from Nietzschean thought to accelerationism and neo-reactionary political theory, promoting visions of governance led by technical expertise and strong leadership.
As artificial intelligence and algorithmic systems increasingly mediate information flows and political perception, these ideological orientations may shape how data is categorized, how algorithms prioritize content, and how decision-making systems are designed. At the same time, tech corporations and their leaders are exerting an increasingly influential role over public policy, governance, and democratic processes.
While existing research examines the political alliances and societal impacts of the tech elite, fewer studies analyze the philosophical ideas informing their technological and political visions.
This study reconstructs and evaluates these ideas by asking:
- which philosophical traditions are invoked,
- how a “good society” is envisioned,
- what role technology plays in achieving it, and
- how these ideas justify technology’s societal role.
