"In this talk, I will present my research on the long history of the creative and critical intersections between literature and anthropology in the Caribbean from the 1920s up to today. Drawing on a few case studies as well as on key theoretical concepts developed by Martinican writer Édouard Glissant, I will demonstrate how anthropology has been criticized but at the same time appropriated in poetic ways by authors in order to negotiate connections between self and community, place and the world.
