The Hwasser prize to Alessandra Vaccaro
Alessandra Vaccaro, researcher at IGP, has been awarded the Hwasser prize 2024 for the best pre-clinical thesis at the Faculty of Medicine.
Alessandra Vaccaro defende her thesis in April 2024 with the thesis Tertiary lymphoid structures in glioblastoma: Discovery, Characterization and Therapeutic Induction. During the thesis work she structures in brain tumours called tertiary lymphoid structures, and investigated immune-therapeutic approaches that could induce these structures, promote anti-tumour responses and prolong survival.
The Hwasser prize includes a diploma, a medal and SEK 40 000. It is awarded by Upsala Läkareförening that this year reviewed more than 100 theses to select one winner for the pre-clinical field and one for the clinical field.
