Göran Gustafsson prize to Thomas Juan and Verónica Rendo

Thomas Juan and Verónica Rendo have both been awarded Göran Gustafsson’s Prize for young researchers.

Thomas Juan has received the three-year Göran Gustafsson prize of SEK 3.75 million in total. His research aims to find new ways of treating cardiovascular disease. He uses genetic tools and advanced imaging techniques to study how blood flow forces shape the development and function of the cardiovascular system

Verónica Rendo has been awarded the lesser Göran Gustafsson prize for young researchers which is SEK 1.25 million for one year. Her research focuses on brain tumours and the reasons behind therapy resistance. The aim is to develop new treatment strategies for these malignant diseases.

The Göran Gustafsson Foundation is made up by two foundations with different objectives where one issues prizes in medicine and engineering physics at Uppsala University and in engineering physics at KTH in Stockholm.
