Discovery indicates new treatment options against glioblastoma

Glioblastoma is one of the most aggressive brain tumour types. Researchers at IGP have now discovered that a specific enzyme – NDST1 – has a key role in how tumour cells behave

In the study, the researchers showed that the amount of NDST1 is lower in glioblastoma compared with healthy brain tissue. When the amounts change, the characteristics of the tumour cells also change.

The study was led by Karin Forsberg Nilsson at IGP and was funded by the Swedish Brain Foundation. More information about the results can be found on the Swedish Brain Foundation’s website (in Swedish).
