AI - Acceleration and Intimacy
The Alumni organization at the Department of Informatics and Media invite you to the 2025 IM Alumni Day lectures that will focus on AI and how it reshapes our world. Two talks introduce the theme:
Learning from building an AI startup from scratch
Eskil Sköldkvist, CEO & Founder of Minosia, will present the journey from an idea to founding a successful AI company. He joined an early-stage accelerator and founded Minosia: an AI platform that supports medical technology companies navigate regulatory compliance.
Understanding the implementation of AI technologies in intimate everyday life
Matilda Tudor, PhD, Media and Communication Studies, will present her current work on AI and algorithms in intimate spheres. She will pay particular attention to uses of chatbots such as ChatGPT and Character AI, and the intimate relationships between humans and AI systems.

After the lectures drinks and pie will be served at Restaurant Humlan. Pre-registration no later than November 6 is required if you will attend the mingle at Ekonomikum or in Visby

IM Alumni Spring Meeting 3 April: What are former master students doing when they leave Uppsala University?
On Thursday April 3 at 16.15-18.00 (Stockholm time = CEST, Central European Summer Time) IM Alumn together with the student organizations at the department will organize a seminar where you will meet former students and learn from their experiences gained from their education and their jobs! We will offer short presentations by three former master’s students, where one of them now has a doctoral degree.
You are most welcome to join the meeting!

Speakers
- Freja Ingelstam works as Digital Media Specialist at the US Embassy Sweden focusing on public outreach guidance, strategic communication, and content creation. She had previously studied a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college in International Relations and History. In the master thesis she explored populist communication on social media - specifically TikTok. In April, Freja will move to the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she will take on a strategic role bridging policy and communications teams. Her title for the seminar is Strategic communication in diplomacy.
- Will Cash works as Lead User Experience Researcher at the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) in London, UK. Will plans and conducts UX research with users to inform the design and development of the museum’s website (vam.ac.uk). Will has worked on projects that have investigated how to showcase the wide variety of a museum’s collection of objects online, as well as how to better support potential visitors in planning their visits to the museum. Most recently, Will has worked on two new digital products that will enhance the visitor experience at a new museum called V&A East Storehouse. Will’s seminar is titled: Experiences from conducting user experience research within the Museum industry.
- Mudassir Imran Mustafa is a researcher and team lead for the U-CARE Platform at the Complex Intervention Research in Health and Care Research Group, Uppsala University. At U-CARE, Mudassir leads the development of a secure, GDPR-compliant eHealth infrastructure that supports internet-based interventions and clinical research. His specialization is design and development of digital platforms for healthcare research. Mudassir’s work integrates Design Science Research (DSR), user-centred design, and co-design methodologies. The title for his seminar is Bridging System Development and Research: A Journey to Design ScienceResearch.

What are former master students and students from our international educations doing when they leave Uppsala University?
The Alumni Society at the Department of Informatic and Media together with the student organizations at the department organize a seminar where you will meet former students and learn from their experiences, gained from their education and their jobs! We will offer short presentations by three former master’s students, where one of them now has a doctoral degree.
Participants:
- Madeleine Silverbratt, Master in Human-Computer Interaction, Bachelor in Information Systems
Madeleine Silverbratt works with applied user-centered research and project management at Skogforsk (The Research Institute for Forestry). Madeleine has been utilizing user-centered methods in various research and development projects at the institute. Incorporating these perspectives into the projects has proven to be both resource-efficient and result-oriented regarding end users´ needs and requirements! She will tell us about this in the seminar Experiences from utilizing user-centered methods for forestry research.
- Anna Pettersson, Master in Management, Communication and IT, Bachelor in Business and administration
Anna Pettersson is working as a management consultant at Deloitte. When Anna started at Deloitte, she joined the Finance, Strategy & Performance team, a team mainly working with CFOs (Chief Finance Officer). After one and a half years, she wanted to try something new and decided to do an internal transfer to the Human Capital team. Anna is now mainly working with CHROs (Chief Human Resources Officer) but also doing a lot of work within the change management field. Her title for the seminar is Working as management consultant. - Kirill Filimonov, PhD in Media and Communication Studies, Master in Media and Communication Studies – Digital Media and Society
Kirill Filimonov is a Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellow at Uppsala University. He is currently working on the role of media in transformation of military conflicts in collaboration with École des hautes études en sciences sociales (France), exploring contemporary Russian newsrooms in exile. Furthermore, he is a researcher at the Horizon Europe project Mapping Media for Future Democracies at Charles University (Czechia). In recent years, Kirill has intensified collaboration with news media and has contributed to SVT, Sveriges Radio, and independent Russian outlets, among others. The title for his seminar is From reporting to researching… and back? The journey into academia of an international Master’s graduate.

The alumni association at the department of informatics and media together with the student organizations at the department arranged a seminar with former students and the participants got to share their experiences of education and work.
- Martin Rutkowski, master's degree in human-computer interaction, talked about The work Life for an Average Designer.
- Nikola Katardjiev, master's degree in information systems, lectured with the title Balancing bureaucracy with Code.
- Larissa A. K. Matsson, bachelor's degree in media and communication science, gave a lecture on the theme The Role of a Show Runner in Reality Television.
