Labour Law
The research is both directed towards the development of international labor law and national labor law. The development of EU law and its interaction with Swedish and Nordic labor law and the labor market is a strong focus area. The activity aims to create knowledge about and understanding of how labor law rules are emerging in an integrated Europe and how they interact with transnational business and an international labor market.
The labor law environment in Uppsala is active in networks of and collaboration between Nordic and European researchers in labor law and labor market relations. One goal is to stimulate collaboration and exchange of ideas between researchers, social partners, authorities, and other stakeholders in the field and thereby contribute to better decision-making for national and international decision-makers. The ambition is to integrate current problems and issues into the longer-term operations.
Current research
Among ongoing research projects is Einar Del Frate's thesis which deals with the rules on employment protection in the event of a labor shortage from a comparative perspective. The cases studied are Sweden and Italy. The aim is to describe the effects of the financial crisis and of the EU's reformed structures for economic and financial governance on the rules around unemployment dismissals, as well as how these effects can be discerned in the legal argumentation. The analysis is also characterized by a constitutional law perspective as a basis for interpreting the two different employment protection models and as a comparison tool.
