Cis-Regulation, Morphology and Evolution of Vertebrates
My research group is passionate about the cis-regulation of developmentally important
transcription factors during the musculoskeletal, craniofacial and vascular development of
vertebrates. We investigate the molecular evolution of gene families, discover cis-regulatory
elements and explore their roles in 3D cell organization of vertebrate structures. We use
zebrafish model and are applying a number of cutting-edge techniques including enhancer
discovery, transgenesis, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, advanced microscopy and X-ray
synchrotron microtomography imaging in order to link molecular and cellular components
during the normal tissue development and in the disease models.
