Five Grants to Research Infrastructure of National Interest to the Department of Physics and Astronomy

The Swedish Research Council decided on September 25, 2023 on grants for research infrastructure of national interest. The Department of Physics and Astronomy is awarded grants to finance two projects as main applicant and three projects as fellow applicant.

The awarded grants are:

Project title: Ion Technology Center
Main applicant: Tandem Laboratory and the Division of Applied Nuclear Physics, Department of Physics and Astronomy

Project title: IceCube Neutrino Observatory and Infrastructure for astroparticle physics with neutrinos
Main applicant: Division of High Energy Physics, Department of Physics and Astronomy

Project title: Fusion and EUROfusion
Main applicant: Chalmers University of Technology
Fellow applicant: Division of Applied Nuclear Physics, Department of Physics and Astronomy

Infrastructure: The ALICE and ATLAS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)
Project title: ALICE & ATLAS
Main applicant: Vice-Chancellor Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), project leader Jonas Strandberg, KTH. Local project leader at UU Elin Bergeås Kuutmann, division for High Energy Physics

Project title: The Nordic e-Infrastructure Collaboration (NeIC)
Main applicant: Linköping University
Fellow applicant: Division of High Energy Physics, Department of Physics and Astronomy

“All infrastructures that received funding are extremely important for the department’s research and we are very happy that they have received funding despite the tough economic situation,” says Richard Brenner, Head of Department for the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
