String theory and quantum field theory

Details

  • Period: 2017-02-23 – 2020-12-31
  • Funder: Swedish Research Council
  • Type of funding: Project Grant

Description

Joseph Minahan, Theoretical Physics, was granted 4.2 million SEK for the project “String theory and quantum field theory” from the Swedish Research Council for the period 2016-2020.

Project description

The proposed project will involve research in string theory and gauge theory and the connection between these two disciplines. The project will make use of the apparent integrability found in both theories to further explore the relationships between string theory and gauge theories with a large number of colors. Furthermore, the project will consider correlation functions derived from string amplitudes to study aspects of conformal field theories. This includes comparing results from the AdS/CFT correspondence to recent results from the bootstrap program.

The project will also develop new techniques to study localized supersymmetric gauge theories. This includes finding localized solutions with fewer number of supersymmetries and solutions on more generalized manifolds.
