New mathematical methods to understand the quantum world

Understanding how quantum systems behave when their components interact strongly is one of the major challenges of modern theoretical physics. Traditional methods often fail in these situations, making it difficult to predict the properties of such systems, even when the underlying physical laws are known.

This research project aims to develop new mathematical methods that make it possible to study these complex quantum phenomena. A central idea is to exploit special symmetries through a technique known as localization, which allows certain quantities to be calculated exactly, even in theories where conventional methods cannot be applied.

The project focuses particularly on four-dimensional gauge theories, which are fundamental to our understanding of elementary particles and their interactions. By bringing together ideas from quantum physics, geometry, and topology, the research aims to uncover new mathematical structures and provide deeper insights into the quantum world.
