About the AM@Å initiative

The initative for Additive manufacturing at the Ångström laboratory (AM@Å for short) was started by research leaders at three departments at the Ångström laboratory, and is since 2018 supported by the Faculty of Science and Technology.

Our mission is to unite and strengthen research and education within additive manufacturing at the Faculty of Science and Technology, both in research and education. We are achieving this by creating and providing research infrastructure for additive manufacturing, and by creating platforms for networking and exchange of ideas, as well as representing the AM activities at the faculty in wider circles.

Organisation

The direction of the initative is governed by the steering committee, where representatives from the different sections (engineering, chemistry, and physics), as well as education are represented.

Most of the organisational matters of the initiative is handled by the director of the initative, in collaboration with the chairperson of the steering committee.

Most of the practical matters, including running of the AM-lab is handled by research engineer employed by the initative.

From a technical point of view the the AM@Å initative is a project at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. It's organisation is goverened by a project directive from the faculty board which outlines the organisation sketched above. The steering committee is elected by the department board, and the steering committee choses the director of the initative.
