AM Education at Ångström
The Faculty of Science and Technology at Uppsala university offers university level education connected to additive manufacturing at several levels and in different lengths.
Master's Programme in Additive Manufacturing
The two year Master's Programme in Additive Manufacturing at Uppsala University is taught in English and will provide you with a robust theoretical understanding of additive manufacturing and 3D-printing processes, and the practical skills to apply such methods to solve real-life problems

Undergraduate programmes with courses AM
Additive manufacturing is also being integrated into courses at other undergraduate study programmes, particularly at master level of our combined bachelor-masters programmes in materials science ("Q") and materials chemistry ("K-material").
Master level courses
The following courses related to additive manufacturing are given at the faculty of Science and Technology. They are generally only open to resgistered programme students or exchange studens, and there are specific entry requirements for each course.
- Manufacturing of Metal Powders, 5 credits
- Additive Manufacturing in Polymeric Materials, 5 credits
- Structural Optimisation for Additive Manufacturing I, 5 credits
- Additive Manufacturing in Metallic and Ceramic Materials, 10 credits
- Post Processing and Surface Engineering, 5 credits
- Process Simulation and Quality Control, 5 credits
- Additive Manufacturing in Medicine, 5 credits
Student theses with AM content
There are regularly bachelor and master thesis by students at Uppsala university, following different study programmes, that involve different aspects of additive manufacturing. Finished and published theses are found through the university's publication database, using the keyword "additive manufacturing".
- Bachelor and Master thesis connected to AM from the Faculty of Science and Technology (will take time to load)
PhD level education
As there are a range of research project related to additive manufacturing, there is continuously a number of PhD students at Uppsala university working with additive manufacturing.
Although most of the researcher education is conducted as a part of the research, there are also some relevant courses:
- 3D printing for biomedical materials
Contact Wei Xia for more information on this course, and when it will be given the next time. - Additive Manufacturing in Medicine, 5 credits
Master level course also relevant för PhD students - AM litterature course
