Admission, registration and study periods
Being admitted to a course or programme is not enough to begin your studies. You also need to register for the course or the programme’s introductory course(s). If you do not register, you may lose your place.
When you are going to be our student
When you receive your admission notification, you will find out if you have been admitted to the course or program you applied for. If you decide to take our courses - you need to follow three steps:
- first to accept the admission,
- then activate your student account at Uppsala University
- and after that register for the course or the program's introductory course(s) within the registration period. You register in Ladok for students.
Registration periods – Spring Semester 2026
- For courses starting in January, registration is open
from 11 December to 11 January. - For courses starting in February, registration is open
from 11 December to 15 February. - For courses starting in March, registration is open
from 23 February to 22 March. - For courses starting in May, registration is open
from 23 February to 26 April.
Registration periods – Autumn Semester 2026
- For courses starting in August, registration is open
from 11 July to 23 August. - For courses starting in October, registration is open
from 11 July to 23 September. - For courses starting in November, registration is open
from 30 September to 27 October. - For courses starting in December, registration is open
from 30 September to 29 November.
Our study periods
Each academic year is divided into four study periods. The academic year begins at the start of the autumn semester. Each semester is divided into two study periods. These periods are in turn divided into two course start dates – for 30‑credit courses, these are referred to as modules.
Our 30‑credit courses start at the beginning of the semester.
Our 7.5‑credit courses start at the beginning of the semester and then approximately every five weeks.
Our part‑time courses (50% course speed) start at the beginning of each study period.
