Placement

On this page there is practical information for student who are doing a semester of placement, where you get to study practical social work and try and develop your skills at integrating theory with practice for 20 weeks. Under the questions an answer section you will find the most common questions and answers, please start with reading all the questions and answers.

On studium you will find the most current information about for example the request form and information meetings. For you who has an independent pace of study and/or approved leave from study and is planning to return to study and that will doing placement next semester, you will need to report this to a placement coordinator as soon as possible so you will receive relevant information and invitations for information meetings leading up to the placement course. You should also get in touch with the study counsellors.

if you are a student in Uppsala may do your placement at one of the places that the department have in the municipality, regions, private actors, and civil society in Uppsala province. If you are a student on Gotland, you can do you placement in the municipality or the region. So far, we don’t have any place within civil society or the private sector on Gotland.

You can not yourself pick placement, but you can request which areas you want to work within. All student who submits their requests on time will receive a placement.

The request form has to be submitted at the latest on the 15th of April. Observe that there is a form for Uppsala students and Gotland Students! Placement coordinators will take into consideration your requests, but there is no guarantee that you will get a certain placement. Under certain circumstances it is possible to apply for you own placement with a social worker as your supervisor. It is also possible to do your placement abroad, but this assumes you arrange the placement yourself and contacting the placement coordinator once you have a placement to suggest.

More information will be posted to studium about the placement course during the later part of the fourth semester. During the placement semester information will be posted to the placement course’s own page. The first day autumn semester information will be given about placement.
