Makerspace
Makerspace is a creative workshop environment where students and staff can experiment, build prototypes, and explore various technologies and tools. The facilities include 3D printers, VR stations, a sewing machine, Arduino kits, and soldering stations.
There are two Makerspaces at Uppsala University:
- EBC Makerspace is located in the Biology Library at the Evolutionary Biology Centre.
- Ångström Makerspace is located adjacent to the library at the Ångström Laboratory.
The Makerspaces are run by student employees who are responsible for planning and carrying out activities. They manage the premises and equipment and offer several introductory courses for the tools available in the Makerspaces.
To use the 3D printers, you must first complete the Makerspace introductory course.
Introduction Course for Makerspace 3D Printers
To use the 3D printers in our Makerspaces, you must first complete an introductory course. Introductory courses are offered at both Ångström Makerspace and EBC Makerspace. After completing the course, you will be able to access the Makerspace using your campus card during the same hours you have access to the building.
If you would like to print with materials other than PLA (the only material permitted at Ångström Makerspace), we recommend joining EBC Makerspace. There, you can also use materials such as PETG, PVB, and TPU.
