About the course

Continuum physics is an integral part of seismology and geodynamics. This introductory course teaches the fundamentals of how standard physical concepts are applied to elastic bodies and to fluids. Emphasis is placed on application to solid earth problems such as mantle flow, plate tectonics, and seismic waves, but the theory applies equally to the atmosphere and oceans.
