About the course

This course introduces fundamental concepts in materials chemistry and materials science. It covers diffusion phenomena, including Fick's laws, diffusion mechanisms, and problem-solving applications. Students learn to draw and interpret binary and ternary phase diagrams and relate them to material microstructures. Core principles of phase transformations are explained and analysed. The course also emphasises the relationships between structure, bonding, properties, and applications of important material systems.
