About the course
This course includes a general overview of the use of biomaterials and relevant biological aspects, including cells and tissues, cell therapies, the body's response to e.g. temporary vs. permanent implants, cell substrates and tailored tissue. Bioactive materials and drug-delivery systems are addressed, as well as interactions between proteins and surfaces, interactions between human tissue and biomaterial, properties of natural tissues, and transplantation techniques. Biomimetic systems, sterilisation and evaluation methods for medical products are discussed.
