About the course

The course introduces organic chemistry with a focus on the structure, properties, and reactivity of small organic and larger bioorganic molecules. You will learn nomenclature, stereochemistry, and basic reaction mechanisms, as well as gain an overview of analytical methods for determining structure and purity. The course includes laboratory work where you practice methods for the synthesis, purification, and analysis of organic compounds. Sustainability aspects within classical and biotechnological chemistry are also discussed.
